Charlotte Allen: A legacy of giving

Charlotte Allen: A legacy of giving

Longtime Greenville resident Charlotte Allen loved her wonderful home located by the airport. She was entertained by the area wildlife daily. Charlotte and her husband, Telford Allen, raised three boys and two girls there.

Over the many years of living in the Greenville area, Charlotte recalled the wonderful care she received at her local Northern Light Health hospital, and the support she and her family experienced from the community. This was never more apparent, or important, as it was when her son, Telford II died in a float plane accident on Moosehead Lake in 2010. The community came together to provide solace in the aftermath of the tragedy. In recognition of their appreciation for the hospital, the family requested gifts be made in Telford II's memory to the hospital.

When Charlotte was admitted to the hospital with medical issues that needed further diagnosis, her care team at the hospital facilitated a smooth transfer to Bangor. After a brief stay in Bangor, Charlotte was able to transfer back to Greenville and receive the remainder of her care closer to home. Being back in her community, close to family and friends empowered Charlotte to heal.

Charlotte was so passionate about her causes, and the hospital was one of them. Since Charlotte had personally experienced just how important having a quality healthcare facility in the area could be, she left behind a planned gift that will support the future of healthcare and economic development in the Moosehead Lake region. It's a special gift that will affect families in the Moosehead Lake region for generations to come.
